On May 31, 2014, I said I do to a wonderful man that God delivered into my life. When my husband proposed on March 14, 2013, it was a complete surprise! We had just purchased our home three months prior, and I wasn’t expecting it to happen so soon. We were on a family vacation with the kids, my mom, sister, and nephew. While planning our vacation, he was set on going on a cruise that included a destination to the Island of Roatan in Honduras. My home country, and that’s where he proposed! When he got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife, I cried tears of joy! It was by far, one of the best moments of my life. What made it even more special was the planning he did to make this memorable moment. He put so much thought into this day that I can’t help but smile every time I think of it. Wedding planning was so much fun and of course, stressful because I wanted everything to be perfect. My husband and I planned our entire wedding together. He was involved in every decision. My favorite moment from wedding planning was wedding dress shopping. I shared this incredible moment with my daughter, mother, mother in law, and maid of honor. To have them by my side when I found the perfect dress was an unforgettable moment. Venue shopping was also very exciting. We fell in love with our Wedding Venue the minute we saw it. Avila Golf & Country Club just took our breath away. From the glistening chandelier to the elegance of the flooring, it had just enough romance to go along with the Vintage and classy feel that we were looking for. The romantic in me always believed that someday I was going to find my prince charming, and when I did, I was instantly inspired by a Romantic Vintage Wedding theme. I chose blush, champagne, and gold as my wedding colors because I wanted a soft and romantic feel. The wedding reception décor featured birdcage centerpieces with pearls, vintage books with blush and white floral arrangements. In addition, we had a pianist that played during our ceremony and continued to play our favorite Frank Sinatra classics during cocktail hour. Having my mom and daughter helping me into my wedding dress is something that I will cherish forever. I can’t even imagine getting ready without them. I also shared this moment with my mother in law, sister, and bridesmaids. When the pianist started to play a Thousand Years by Christina Perri, I knew that was my cue to walk down the aisle, and as soon as I gazed upon my son’s face, I was instantly filled with emotions because he was the one giving me away. Soon after, I locked eyes with the man I would be spending the rest of my life with, the man that made my magical wedding come true. Rob and I chose for our first dance as husband and wife, All of Me by John Legend. As soon as we heard it, we instantly knew that was our song. Choosing a song for the Mother and Daughter dance took a little more research. I wanted this song to be extremely special, just like my mother. When I heard I Turn to You by Christina Aguilera, I knew that was the one. I even translated the entire song in Spanish for my mom. I wanted her to understand what each word meant because it was how I felt about her. The reception was so much fun! We had an open bar, and everyone danced the night away. We chose a 1950’s Bentley to whisk us off to our hotel. It was incredible to drive away as husband and wife in that white vintage beauty. All of my wedding vendors did an exceptional job, and if I had to do it all over again, I wouldn’t change a thing.
