For this week’s post, I wanted to write about my experiences and share some useful tips about traveling with little ones.
My husband and I started traveling with Little Penny when she was five months old; she is now two. During this time, we’ve accumulated some great strategies to make our traveling life more comfortable.

Traveling with young children is not always easy; let’s be honest; it could be overwhelming and stressful! The truth about traveling is that you have to be prepared for the unexpected. Not every adventure is going to be perfect, but the result is priceless.

I’m excited to share some useful tips that we have incorporated into our lives and hope that they are just as helpful for you!

PLANNING
We like to travel if possible, during the offseason, it's less expensive and less crowded. Once we have settled on a destination, we create a budget, and then we determined the amount of time we will be away. I found that when I follow these simple steps at the beginning, it makes it less stressful and everything else falls into place.

BOOKING A FLIGHT
We start looking for flights at least two months in advance, sometimes earlier, we like to take our time searching for the best prices.

I try to book our flights either late at night or early in the morning to keep in sync with Little Penny's schedule. We always choose our seats in advance even if we have to pay extra; we want our seats towards the front of the plane, so once we land, the exit process is quicker.

When you are traveling with little ones, most airlines allow you to board the plane early which is perfect; this gives you time to settle down before everyone else boards. We also like to utilize early boarding to disinfect our entire area!

During take-off and landing, it's essential for your little ones to drink from a bottle, sippy cup, or even a pacifier. For older kids, you can give them a lollipop. The sucking helps to prevent their ears from popping.

SNACKS
Snacks are crucial. I take all her favorites, and I pack enough for the entire trip.

ENTERTAINMENT
Keeping them entertained during the flight is a must, especially on a long flight. Little Penny has her very own luggage that I pack with her favorite toy, but every other toy is new. I’ve downloaded her favorite shows and movies into her child-proof iPad as well as some educational games.

PACKING
I try to pack as light as possible. When it comes to diapers; they take tons of space, so I only pack what I need for a few days, you will find diapers anywhere in the world! Having the right stroller is key, our stroller weights less than 14lbs. We also take a baby carrier for when visiting areas that are not stroller friendly, and her pack and play for sleeping.

We try to stick to the same bedtime routine while traveling. Our Little Penny sleeps with a sound machine every night, so we make sure to pack it. Last but not least, don't forget that favorite book for story time before bed.

It was a pleasure sharing these tips with you and stay tuned for my next post!
